This has been an unusual month. Not all of the unusual happenings have been bad. In fact, most of the unusualness has been good. One of these good unusual things is happening on ravelry right now. The Sock Knitters Anonymous Group is currently voting on the who and what for their next year. If you’re not familiar with this group, the Sock Knitters Anonymous (SKA for short) Group has monthly challenges 11 months of the year. Each month, they select a technique and a couple of designers. Members of the group make a pair of socks using the technique or designer for the challenge. A handful of the participants who complete their challenge win prizes. It’s all good fun.
Someone actually nominated me to be one of the designers. It looks like there are three voting threads: one for designers that have been featured, one for new designers, and one for techniques. I’m in the new designers thread. It’s very flattering, and I’m sure the other 23 designers feel the same way. I don’t know if I’ll be selected. All of the designers are very talented, so it’s really exciting to be in the same list as these people.
On another note, the brown sock is progressing; albeit, slowly. I have a lot going on this month, and sadly, not all of it is knitting. I think the sock is almost to the point where I can start the heel. I’m thinking of extending the pattern on the heel, so it will be interesting to see if that works. I do like the way the stitch pattern breaks up the pooling, which compensates for the general simplicity of it all.
